Southco is adding several new options to its E5 line of quarter-turn cam latches, opening up a variety of new functionalities. E5 cam latches offer affordable simplicity and superior flexibility due to their efficient modular design. New options for these latches include the Low-Profile Wing Knob, Wing Knob with Shuttered Lock Plug, Key-Locking Mini Cam Latch, Fixed Grip Protected Cams, adjustable grips, the Adjustable Grip Conversion Kit and the Multipoint Actuator Plates. These additions make the E5 line even more versatile than before. 

Low-Profile Wing Knob 

The first addition is the Low-Profile Wing Knob. This knob allows users to actuate the E5 by hand and features a more compact wing size. This makes the latch easier to actuate in smaller spaces and reduces its surface profile. The Low-Profile Wing Knob is available in black powder or chrome finish. 

Wing Knob with Shuttered Lock Plug 

The second addition is the Wing Knob with Shuttered Lock Plug, an upgrade for locking wing knobs. The shuttered lock plug makes the E5-9 Wing Knob better suited for outdoor environments, sealing out rain, dirt, and debris. This makes the latch easier to actuate, extends its lifespan, and prevents damage to the locking mechanism. 

Key-Locking Mini Cam Latch 

For those that need additional security in a compact package, the third addition is the Key-Locking Mini Cam Latch. This addition adds both key-locking to both the wing knob and tool access varieties of the E5-M Mini Cam Latch. The Key-Locking Mini Cam Latch is perfect for applications that need higher security but lack the space for a full-sized E5 Cam Latch. 

Fixed Grip Protected Cam 

The next addition to the E5 line is the Fixed Grip Protected Cam. This is an upgrade from existing flat cams, and perfect for those seeking to avoid wear and cosmetic damage that comes from a flat cam scraping against an enclosure frame. The Fixed Grip Protected Cam adds a plastic cover to the end of a cam, providing protection from frame damage and smoother actuation. Fixed Grip Protected Cams are compatible with all E5 and H3 latches. 

E5-9 Adjustable Grip 

Southco’s next addition provides additional flexibility for its Wing Knob, T-Handle, and L-Handle cam latches. The Adjustable Grip option lets those using E5-9 hand-operated cam latches manually adjust the cam location on each latch. This allows users to freely change the grip strength of the latch, and adjust for variations in frame dimensions. Variability also allows manufacturers to use one latch for multiple frame designs. 

Adjustable Grip Conversion Kit 

Another addition is the Adjustable Grip Conversion Kit. This kit brings all the benefits of adjustable grip to any existing E5 fixed grip cam latch. It contains a new shaft, cam, adjustment nuts, and mounting screw so users can convert fixed grip E5 Cam Latches to adjustable grip in the field. The Adjustable Grip Conversion Kit also allows users to configure latches and cams themselves, so the latch always fits the designed frame. 

Multipoint Actuator plates 

The last item in this round of additions are the A5 Actuator plates. These plates facilitate a collection of E5 latches to be linked together with the A5 Rod System, enabling all of them to be operated simultaneously by simply operating one of them.  This is particularly suited to larger doors where top/bottom latches may be out of reach, or difficult to access, and provides a lower cost entry point for Multipoint system latching.
